Pride-season sports events move quickly. A poster, old article or reshared image is not enough to confirm that a match, training session or social event is happening this year. Treat every event page as a lead until the organiser confirms date, place and entry details.
What counts as a useful event source?
- An official club or governing-body page.
- A current event page from a recognised Pride organiser.
- A current post from the named club, venue or event organiser.
- A current local-news article naming the event, date and organiser.
What to check before travelling
Confirm the date, start time, venue, weather plan, whether spectators are welcome, whether the session is beginner-friendly, changing arrangements, age restrictions and any registration link. If the event involves minors or safeguarding, use the organiser's official route and do not rely on informal messages.
Types of events to watch
Useful search categories include Pride tournament, inclusive training session, social puck-about, charity match, club open day, panel discussion, volunteer meet-up and county Pride sports day. Some are participation events; others are visibility or community events. The difference matters.
How GGA.ie should list events
Every listed event should have a source, review date and status label: confirmed, awaiting current confirmation, historical listing or cancelled/expired. Expired events should not be presented as upcoming fixtures.
After Pride month
Inclusion does not end when Pride month ends. If an event creates a beginner route, mailing list, recurring training session or club contact, the evergreen value is the follow-up path. That is what should be preserved on GGA.ie.
